Lindsey Licatesi '24 created the first ever 24/7 access food pantry in Nassau County.
She said, "During the pandemic I remember how long the lines were for food and I realized that homeless people aren’t the only people that need help. Working families struggling during the pandemic had an impact on me because hunger affects everyone. So even though in my community, food insecurity isn’t the first thing that comes to mind it still occurs here so I wanted a place where the people who are in need to have something where they can feel supported. "
The Feed the Need Food Pantry is located at the Levittown Public Library (1 Bluegrass Ln, Levittown, NY 11756). Donations of non-perishable foods and basic hygiene items are welcome. People in need are able to access the items for free.
