The Winter Track team finished off their season on March 7 at the CHSAA Intersectional Championships at Oceanbreeze in Staten Island.
Overall, Sacred Heart Academy ended the season placing 5th as a team out of the 15 Catholic schools that competed.
Some of the top performances of the day include:
-Jahmilia Dennis '22 medaled in three events placing 3rd in the 55H, 3rd in the long jump, and she anchored the 4x2 relay which placed 2nd.
- Julia Miller '22 doubled in two events and medaled in both. She placed 4th in the HJ jumping a huge personal best of 4’8” and she placed 4th in the triple jump with another huge personal best jump.
-Three girls made it into the finals of the 55m dash! Mary Menger '21, Kayleigh Chin '22, and Cayla Midy '22 all made it to the finals and placed 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively.
-Colleen Dorrian '21 had a great race in the 1k bringing home a medal placing 5th overall. Mia Hannan '23 also had a great race running a huge personal best time of 3:30 in the 1k.
-In the 600m dash we had Brigid Byrnes '23 who ran a season’s best time and placed 3rd overall bringing home a medal.
-The 4x2 relay made up Mary Menger '21, Katie Joesten '22, Kayleigh Chin '22, and Jahmilia Dennis '22 were our top finishers of the day placing 2nd overall.
-The 4x4 relay made up of Brigid Byrnes '23, Michelle Baller '23, Lindsay Galligan '24, and Violet Rossi '24 placed 5th overall bringing home medals.
-The 4x8 relay placed 6th overall in the CHSAA made up of Katie Hourani '21, Kelly O’Neill '21, Colleen Dorrian '21, and Mia Hannan '23.
