Safety and Security

Feeling safe and secure at Sacred Heart Academy is crucial to the overall well-being of our students, staff and visitors.

The School Safety and Security Program at SHA is led by retired NYPD Lieutenant and current Director of Security and Facilities, Mr. Jim Augello, in consult with law enforcement, investigation and communications professionals on SHA’s  Board of Trustees.

Sacred Heart maintains close partnerships with the Hempstead Village and Nassau County Police Departments and the Office of Homeland Security to ensure that we are enacting Best-Practices in School Safety and Security.

Key safety measures at SHA include:

  • Visitor Management System which requires ID be presented and verified prior to entering the building
  • After-School Security
  • SHA Security at student entrance
  • Routine Emergency Fire/Lockdown/Evacuation Drills
  • Use of the RAVE Emergency App
  • Panic alarms within the school building
  • Updated security cameras campus-wide
  • The AP Notify Emergency Communications System (text, calls and emails regarding school closings and other emergencies are sent to all contacts)
