Chamber Ensemble

The Chamber Ensembles are small groups of highly motivated performers who play repertoire written for smaller groups of musicians.  Students are grouped into duets, trios, quartets, or quintets (based on instrumentation, ability level, repertoire availability, etc.) and they work together to rehearse and interpret their music. String, woodwind, brass, and percussion players are welcome to join the ensemble  Leadership is fostered among the students in each group, as they are responsible for rehearsing independently.  Input from the moderator is given only as needed, and a strong emphasis on self-reflection and critique is developed among these musicians.  An audition is required to be a part of these ensembles, and strong sight reading skills are highly recommended.

The Chamber Ensembles perform in the SHA Christmas and Spring Concerts, as well as at any other school events where musicians are requested.  Members regularly participate in NYSSMA, All-County, and LISFA festivals.
