Sacred Heart Academy Art Department
Visual Arts is an integral part of the Sacred Heart Academy experience. The focus of our Art Department is to promote and encourage student creativity through the artistic process and the development of critical thinking skills. We offer an array of courses designed to enhance student artistic growth through direct observation, practice, experimentation, evaluation and revision. Students will learn to analyze and interpret artwork to gain an appreciation of art and the artistic process. They will create connections and synthesize concepts and ideas through experimentation of various media .

First year students interested in art begin with Studio Art 1. As art majors, students would continue with Studio Art 2, Studio Art 3 Honors with the option of college credit. Seniors, who pursue AP Art, can gain college credit while developing portfolios for their future endeavors. We also offer studio elective art courses in Drawing/Painting and Fashion in the Movies.
Our Digital art program is updated with all the latest software used in the industry. In our innovative Mac Lab and Makerspace students have the opportunity to take courses in Computer Graphics 1 (with college credit option), Computer Graphics 2 Honors/3-D printing, Photography 1 & 2, and Video Production/Editing.
