Graduation Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many guests can my daughter bring to graduation?
A: Two.  Each graduate may bring two guests to graduation.  There are no exceptions.  Students will be seated in a pod with their two guests.  No additional guests are permitted anywhere on SHA’s campus.
Q: Can my daughter bring any guest she chooses?
A: Only members of the same family are permitted as guests.
Q: Should I line up early to try and get a good seat at graduation?
A: No. There is no need to line up early in the hopes of choosing your own seat.  All seats are assigned in advance.
Q: Why does my daughter need to provide COVID-related documentation for Graduation?
A: The New York State guidelines for proms and outdoor graduation ceremonies require the COVID documentation.  The Dept. of Health will be making routine checks at year-end events and we must be in compliance with all guidelines.
Q: What is considered proof of vaccination?
A: The COVID vaccine card provided by the Department of Health (DOH) at the time of vaccination or the Excelsior Pass on a cellphone are the only valid forms of proof.  Please note, if using the DOH vaccine card, the date of the second dose must be two weeks prior to the day of the event.
Q: When would a student or guest need to take a PCR test for it to be valid for Graduation?
A: The PCR test has to be taken within 72 hours of the Graduation.  Most PCR results are not given back on the same day, therefore, in order to use the PCR results as proof, the test must be administered between June 2 and June 4.
Q: Can a student or guest use a rapid test on the day of the Graduation as proof?
A: Rapid tests must have been taken within six hours of the event.  Therefore, if you choose this option, the rapid test must be conducted between 3 am and 9 am on the day of Graduation (June 5, 2021).
