The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) has announce that Kayla Lapommeray has received a 2018 Outstanding Senior in French Award. The award is made annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken. Recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be non-native speakers of French.
Kayla, who has completed four years of French and is a student of Mrs. Andrea Grady, is a member of the French Honor Society and is a French Club Officer. She earned third place, Premier Distinction, in the highest level of the Long Island French Poetry Competition for her memorization and recitation of Guy de Maupassant’s poem, Nuit de Neige, and participated in the National French Week Contest.
The AATF was founded in 1927 and has as its mission the promotion of the study of French language and French-speaking literatures and cultures at all levels. It is their hope that this award will motivate students to continue their study of French.
