Sacred Heart Academy competed in the Annual CANstruction engineering competition at the RXR Plaza in Uniondale on October 25 and 26.
Combined as a design/build competition and food drive, CANstruction participants build sculptures from donated cans of food over 12 hours. SHA’s theme was “We CAN build a better future” and the display – a Lego construction worker – won “Best CANfiguration,” which is awarded to the best structural ingenuity in the student/community group.
Sacred Heart’s team collected approximately 1,500 cans to use in the competition, all of which will be donated to help those in need.
The structures will be on display for the public at the RXR Plaza through November 12. Admission cost is one can of food.
