Sophomore Katherine Lynch joins 2nd university research team - at Hofstra University

Of course, Katherine's game is Chemistry, not baseball. Her biochemistry internship at St. Joseph's College doesn't commence until August, so Ms. Lynch has accepted Professor Daniel Miller's invitation to join his lab at Hofstra during her "free time" in July. She will research grignard reactions (organic reactions significant in forming carbon-carbon bonds and tools in organic synthesis), wittig reactions (reactions that convert aldehydes and ketones to alkenes, useful tools in organic synthesis), and perhaps Suzuki cross-coupling reactions. Katherine will also be responsible for molecular modeling for each reaction. “Free time,” indeed!
