SHA Celebrates the Feast of St. Joseph and Remembers Sister Virginia Crowley, CSJ

SHA was blessed to have seven of the Sisters of St Joseph, including our Principal Sister Jean Amore, CSJ, Ed.D., join us to celebrate their Feast Day with the full Sacred Heart Academy community.

Bishop Henning recognized the Sisters’ commitment and dedication in his homily. “As we continue our prayer today honoring Joseph, we also honor the Sisters of St. Joseph.  These women have poured themselves into the service of others in so many ways, and especially here at Sacred Heart Academy.  They are part of a legacy in the United States of women religious with often overlooked and under told stories of true heroism.  Women of courage and value … who went into communities that did not have schools and began those schools. Who went into communities where poverty and violence reigned and brought that peace of Jesus Christ, and they brought schools and hospitals and clinics.   They brought a sense of Grace.  The truth of the Lord. That legacy is an amazing legacy.”

Following the homily, the Sisters joyfully renewed their vows and commitment to Jesus’ mission and to seeking and promoting justice, to living lives of non-violence and to responding to the needs of our time. The Sisters, like St, Joseph work to foster love, unity and reconciliation among all people.

Sacred Heart Academy is blessed by the influence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, whose academic mission is to educate and empower young women.  Each day, we are inspired by the Sisters.

“Let us embrace the past with love and remembrance  and embrace the future with longing and hope.”
