SHA Students Earn High Scores in National Italian Exam

Every year in March, the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI) sponsors the National Italian Exam (NIE), an exam given nationally to middle school and high school students of Italian. The students that take the exam are rated according to how well they did in comparison with others throughout the country.

Angela Dattoma, who took the level 4 NIE, Elizabeth Musso, level 3, and Carmela Musso (not in the photo), also level 4 were awarded the Gold Medal for their performance on the exam.  In order to receive a Gold Medal award a student must be ranked above the 90th percentile.

The Silver Medal award was given to Alexa Petrunoff, level 4; Sofia Guzzo, level 4, and Gianna Levine, level 3.  Numerous students received the Bronze Medal in the 2021 NIE: Erin Silva, level 2; Christina Massetti and Daniela Battisti, level 3; and Jacqueline Testaiuti and Isabella Dellarosa, level 4.
