Sacred Heart Academy senior Carmela Musso's article, "The Effects of Spirituality & Technology Usage on the Resilience of Students Attending Faith-Based Institutions" has been accepted for publication by The Whitman Journal of Psychology (WJP), a Maryland-based, peer-reviewed academic journal for the nation's best secondary behavioral research (Fall 2021).
Carmela worked with Molloy College Nursing Department Professor Marcia Caton and Dr. Stephen Sullivan at Sacred Heart Academy.
The abstract of her article is: "To study the effect of spirituality and technology addiction on resilience, I administered several surveys to 203 high school and undergraduate students. I found that increased technology addiction decreases an individual’s resilience levels, while increased spirituality increases an individual’s resilience."
Carmela's publication is Sacred Heart Academy's third such accomplishment in 18 months. Fiona Marren '20 and Sofia Di Scipio '20 were published in the WJP in Fall 2020.
