Sacred Heart Academy seniors Fiona Marren and Margaret Saville were named regional semifinalists in the 2020 Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.
On February 9, each student presented her respective PowerPoint presentation to two different panels of judges, consisting of two professors and one graduate student, at CUNY York College.
Fiona presented her project titled "Optimism's Role as a Mediator Between Stress, Coping Methods, and Wellness Outcomes Among Nursing Students and Preservice Teachers."
Margaret's presentation was titled "The Impact of Heavy Metal Leaching on Local Aquatic Ecosystems."
Both Fiona and Margaret have one more competition to attend respectively. Margaret will present at the Long Island Natural Science Conference. Fiona will travel to Chicago for the Association of Psychological Science Convention.
Congratulations to our STEM scholars on this impressive achievement and honor.
