Now affiliated with the Girls Who Code national organization, the coding club meets for two hours every week to learn about various aspects of coding, including the core four principles, from volunteer Girls Who Code instructor, Kathy Vargas, an Adjunct in the Mathematics and Computer Sciences Department at Adelphi University.
The students work independently, or in small groups, on coding projects such as website design and learning Arduino. We plan for participants to attend coding workshops and conferences at local colleges and universities. Recently, the club received a $300 grant from Girls Who Code to put towards club supplies.
