Canstruction LI is a combined food drive and engineering event. Under the instruction of engineer mentor Bruce Mawhirter, the students design and build a structure out of canned food collected from the student body, faculty and staff. The event takes place at the end of October at RXR Plaza in Uniondale and the structures remain standing for two weeks. During that time, the public may view the structures and vote for their favorites using canned food donations.
In the past few years, SHA has won "Most Cantastic," "Best Cancept," "Best Cantender," and "People's Choice (student teams)".
