There has been a change to New York State Education Law in accordance with the Commissioner’s Regulation 136.1-136.3 effective 7/1/18. The change effectively revises grade levels for physicals and mandated screenings. Therefore, any child entering school for the first time, or entering kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th grades must have a physical examination.
New York State is in the process of developing a health certificate to be on a form prescribed by the Commissioner to provide consistency across the state.
