One of the six schools sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sacred Heart Academy, empowers its students to become compassionate, confident leaders who address the global needs of our times.
With Academia Maria Reina in San Juan, Puerto Rico facing a challenging recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, the five sister schools in New York, supported by the CSJ Sisters in Brentwood, jumped into action. Each school took on the challenge to raise much needed funds to support Maria Reina, which suffered partial building damage and has been left no electricity and limited communication since September 20.
Sacred Heart students and faculty raised money through a “SHA Sweatpants” day. A donation to the collection for Maria Reina gave each student the opportunity to not wear the uniform for a day, resulting in over $3,000 proudly raised by SHA students to be sent to assist Maria Reina’s recovery.
This morning, the senior class gathered to send well-wishes to our sisters in Puerto Rico.
